We both love to travel. Collectively, we’ve been in nearly 80 countries and all 50 states in the USA. And while we still think, plan and dream like we’re 35, the truth is we’re both seniors. We’re getting close to celebrating our 50th year of ministry and in a few months, we’ll celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary. We sometimes get asked, in these days and times, “What do you consider as the reason for the longevity of your marriage?” For us, that’s an easy answer. Early on in our marriage we both embraced the same common goal . . . and that was . . . to make her happy! Okay, I’m just kidding. Honestly, though, we both feel that God orchestrated a team spirit in us. We view ourselves as a team. We plan as a team. We act as a team. We accomplish our goals as a team. We’re very aware of the talent, gifts, strengths and weaknesses in each other. We focus on job tasks that let each of us operate in our strengths. It makes life much easier. We have 3 biological children, all married, (which gives us 6!) and 9 grand-children, (3 boys, 6 girls), ranging from 2nd grade to a senior at a major university. Patricia is extremely talented in overseeing details in creative projects. Her work in Legacy Quilts, is a ministry of emotional healing and overcoming grief all of its own. While we rarely think about death, or dying, or funerals, at our age it would be unwise to not make the necessary preparations. We decided to do a blog, even though it’s not commonly used by individuals of our generation, because it allows us to have a conversation about many aspects of loss and grief. I’m so glad you joined us . . . Join us in the conversation with any questions or comments you may have.
