Bob Arnold – May 28, 1938-August 3, 2003

This is my dad at one of my high school football games.  Look at those sideburns!!  Like many people from his generation, things didn’t come easy for him, hardship was the norm.  He learned from a young age that hard work and determination were going to guide him.  At age 12, he started working full time to take care of his brother, sister, and mother.  He had multiple open heart surgeries and finally ended his days fighting cancer.  All the while, being married, raising my older brother Bill and I, and owning his own successful construction company.  The days we spent motorcycle riding deep in the Colorado mountains were the best days.

The one thing I’ll never forget, is that no matter how challenging life got or how much I knew he was hurting, he was ALWAYS happy.  I don’t remember him not having a smile.  The second thing is that he didn’t complain…about anything…ever!!  He worked hard, had a unbelievable attitude, and faced life head on.  He loved his God and his family.  It’s unfortunate that my kids and grandkids to come can’t experience on a daily basis who my dad was.  He truly was a one of a kind…..
