Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

I had been praying about a financial need our organization was going to face.  During prayer, I was quoting the financial promises most believers know.  I was getting no results.  I began to ask the Holy Spirit “Why.  Was I doing something wrong?”  “Was there a better way?”  “Why do you seem to always say no?”  This scripture came to my mind.  Matthew 6:33. I knew this verse, but I had been quoting it wrong.  I left out “and His righteousness”.

Here Jesus is talking about how to take no thought for your life; what you will eat; drink; what you will wear.  God feeds the birds; He helps the lilies of the field to grow; clothes the fields with grass.  So why are you concerned about these things?  Then He give us this verse.

For the first time I began to see things differently.  My questions changed.  To obtain these things that we needed were governed by a different set of guidelines.  Why did Jesus say “seek ye first the Kingdom of God,” and why “His righteousness” first?  Why not seek God first or the Holy Spirit or even Jesus?  This seemed strange for me.  For some weeks I pondered these questions a lot.  I knew I had to change my blue print in order to change the physical world around me.
