Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

 

On the surface, this seems like a bizarre statement.  How can life and death be controlled by the tongue?  James 3:2, “If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man . . .”  When you begin to see the relationships in people between their soul and their body, this verse makes perfect sense.  Think of it like this.  Your tongue is the communication director of your soul.  What you think; what you believe; how you love and how you hurt; how you make decisions, etc., your tongue communicates all these various parts of you to the world.

I like to think of the soul in more simple terms.  I see it as a blue print for your physical life.  Everything in your soul propels you forward through the years.  It is a great deal more than self-image.  Many people in the world portray a self-image that is not even close to their real core or soul.  They do it for gain, success, or to hide the inner pain of their true self.  I like to be around people that “what you see, is what you get”.  No hidden agendas.  No manipulations.  Only their true self, good or bad.  The great news is that with Christ “old things are passed away and all things become new”.  This new freedom…. new power….this new understanding allows you to let the Holy Spirit change your blue print, which automatically changes your physical life.
