John 14:16,17
…Even the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him; but ye know Him: for He dwelleth with you and shall be in you.
I want to continue the devotional from yesterday. I talked about seeing an idyllic picture that falsely gives the hope of inner peace and serenity. I love being around lakes and oceans. It has a calming effect on me. But it can’t take away my heartache and emotional pain. But, the Holy Spirit . . . God’s comforter . . . can! He can bring peace.
Sometimes, I think Christianity tries to create the perfect picture in Christ. If you just surrender to Him your life will be instantly perfect. You will receive heaven on earth. My experience in trusting in Christ for 50 years has not been that. He doesn’t let you miss the joy of discovering or overcoming all struggles by leaning on and trusting in Him. You can still go through great . . . great . . . great heart-breaking struggles; but, He is there with you. His power, wisdom and love are there for you to draw from to overcome all things. Sometimes when the Holy Spirit leads you away from a natural way of thinking to a Gods’ way of thinking it can get messy and your flesh doesn’t yield to God’s way easily. Your natural mind fights against Gods’ because His transcends natural thinking.
Face your struggles here. Face your broken heart now. Let the Holy Spirit make your heart whole again and you will enjoy visiting those idyllic places much more.
