Hebrews 12:1. . . let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

Run the Race

While in Italy visiting the Apostle Paul, Timothy, Paul’s fellow worker, was with Paul while he was under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and wrote the book of Hebrews.  Paul likens the experience in Christ on earth as a race.  But when you examine this text more closely what must the Holy Spirit be trying to share?  A race, as we know it, usually includes winners and those that don’t win.

We know that once we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior the outcome will make winners of us all.  So, to have a race by virtue of its’ definition we must have an opponent.  I believe that included in any description of an opponent in our personal race with the finish line being eternity would have to be . . . “time”.

Time is the most restrictive opponent in our race to fulfill Gods’ will in us as we go through this life seemingly at blinding speed.  All of us could get more done every day for God’s Kingdom here on earth, if we were not so restricted by time.  The great news is, we’re not restricted by time in eternity.

So, I encourage you to plot a new course if you must.  But don’t let this tragic loss knock you out of the race for the Kingdom of God.  Get up and keep moving by faith.

Make long term decisions slowly.  You have time.

Have a blessed day!
