Psalms 107:22 And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving and declare His works with rejoicing.

Our walk with Christ sometimes requires us to walk outside the normal way the world does things.

In fact, sometimes, we must do the exact opposite of what our natural mind or body wants to do.  When tragedy strikes, in our natural minds the last thing we think to do is give thanks.  Our response is usually more like this.  “Are you serious?  How could this tragedy in any way bring about the desire to give thanks?  No way; not now; not ever!  In fact, if God was truly a loving God how could He let this happen?  Thanks?  Yeah, not from me.”

The view of people like this is one that believes that all good things in a person’s life stops here at death.  We know this is not even close to true.  To compare this life on earth to eternity is not possible.  If you took one grain of sand and compared it to every grain of sand, on every beach, on every ocean, on planet earth it still would not be a fair comparison to life on earth and eternity.

Sacrificial Thanksgiving

Giving thanks to God when things are good is one thing.  Giving thanks to God when your heart is breaking is something totally different.  This is sacrificial giving of thanks.  You can’t do it on your own.  You can’t conjure it up.  It’s not natural.  But the lives of those who experience sacrificial thanks will be transformed forever.  It will bring you into a relationship with Christ that you’ve never had before.  When your heart break is so debilitating, and you can’t bring yourself to even think of the word “thanks” let alone have the power to say it, ask the Holy Spirit to give you the internal power to just whisper the sacrificial word “thanks” to God, who knows the “why” of all things.  This is a great way to begin your path to Gods victory for you.

You will be glad you did.
