Psalms 4:4 – Stand in awe . . . commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still
During the experience of a tragic event the ability to be quiet and gather your own thoughts can be a great healing event.
When someone we love passes over who is a believer in Christ, it is truly a bitter sweet event. From our side their passing brings us all kinds of emotions from sorrow to rejoicing; emotional pain to thanks to a faithful God; broken hearts to future great expectations. To our loved one who has passed it is truly “joy unspeakable and full of glory”. Inside of your heart rages the same conflict that was in the heart of the Apostle Paul in Philippians 1:23-25. “For I am in a strait between two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ; which is far better; nevertheless, to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.”
Many people facing tragic moments of death are often overwhelmed with thoughts of wanting to be with their loved ones and Christ. Why stay here? I would much rather be there. In your quiet moments of thought before you drift off to sleep begin the process of asking God what glory can He receive from your loss. Start thinking about how this tragic experience could be a seed for you to help others. Let God heal your broken heart. Then use your victory over the rest of the emotional baggage that often comes with a tragic loss, to help others and you will enlarge the Kingdom and your loved ones’ life will have accomplished much.
May you abide in His peace today.
